Degaussing

We can degauss:

  • Hard Drives
  • Tapes

How it works:

It erases information from a magnetic disk or tape using a strong magnetic field. It leaves the domains in random patterns with no preference to orientation, thereby rendering previous data unrecoverable

If required Onsite – Our trusted, security vetted staff can:

  • Come to your site
  • Remove any data baring devices (e.g. remove all your hard drives from your computers)
  • Degauss all your data baring devices in front of your eyes
  • Take away all wiped hard drives, tapes etc to be recycled and provide a disposal certificate

Data is stored on magnetic media, such as hard drivesfloppy disks, and magnetic tapes. Degaussing operates by making very small areas called magnetic domains change their magnetic alignment to be in the direction of an applied magnetic field. This phenomenon occurs in much the same way a compass needle points in the direction of the Earth’s magnetic field. Degaussing, commonly called erasure, leaves the domains in random patterns with no preference to orientation, thereby rendering previous data unrecoverable.

The main features of our degaussing service are:

  • We can degauss both hard drives and media tapes
  • Revive ITs screened, security oriented team can undertake this service at your site or at ours
  • Depending on the IT service level agreed (e.g. Standard Pro Data Destruction / Asset Track Pro etc.), there are different types of asset / audit reports available before degaussing takes place
  • A Waste transfer Note (WTN), Data Destruction Certificate (DDC) and Asset Report are provided
  • Revive IT logistics are focussed especially on security with absolutely all measures taken to make our service as data security tight as possible
  • All our staff are extremely well trained, professional and competent
  • Our degaussing service is extremely cost effective
